Firefox 80 / 80.0.1

Version 80.0.1 was simply a bugfix release for 80 and fixes 5 user-facing issues;

  • Race condition involving intermediate CA certificates (possible performance / lockup implications)
  • Fix for crashes relating to GPU resets
  • Fix for rendering for some WebGL sites
  • Fixed a Zoom issue in Japanese language builds
  • Fixed an download issue relating to cookies and extensions

Version 80

The main release had more notable user-facing changes;

  • Fixfox can now be set as the default PDF viewer
  • A number of security issues were addresses
  • A number of issues that caused crashes were addressed
  • There were a number of fixes and enhancements applied to the Developer tools module
  • A number of accessibility issues were addressed including SVG elements for screen readers and animation frame rates for users with migraines or epilepsy.
  • There is now an addon block-list to assist with performance and scalability
