Ah.  I have no idea at all what's going on, in fact I would struggle to write a script to do that!    
It works on my system:

keith@E5570:~/scripts$ ls -1
11-222-333.mp3
DD-MM-YYYY.mp3
DD-MM-YYYY.txt
name-reformat
tttt-cc-zz.mp3
yyyy-mm-dd.mp3
keith@E5570:~/scripts$ name-reforma...
